Which carpet cleaning method is best?

Most carpet manufacturers suggest hot water extraction with a truck-mounted unit performed by an IICRC certified firm. When performed properly, hot water extraction will remove more soil and spots. It will also sanitize the carpet, whereas other methods have no capability of removing contaminants (such as pollen, pesticides, detergents, exhaust, etc.) The system we have does not over wet the carpet or leave a sticky residue. We invest in only the best equipment available. Our truck-mounted units are equipped with a 4 cylinder engine for maximum efficiency.

How often do I need my carpet cleaned?

Many sources, such as the EPA, the Carpet and Rug Institute and the IICRC recommend cleaning approximately every 12 months for residential carpet. Most carpet manufacturer warranties require hot water extraction at least every 24 months or your warranty will be void.

Will hot water extraction (steam cleaning) damage my carpet?

No.  Hot water extraction is the method preferred by many leading carpet manufacturers.  It is considered by many to be the best method of removing embedded soil and other contaminants.

Does your cleaning process soak the backing of the carpet?

No, although our process rinses the carpet deep down, moisture does not penetrate the backing of the carpet. With our powerful truck-mounted equipment, your carpet is thoroughly rinsed, but left only damp to the touch.

How often should we apply protector?

According to most manufacturers, by your carpets second year, it will lose 30% of its stain resistance and it should be reapplied every 12 to 24 months.

Do you move furniture you are cleaning around?

Our regular pricing includes moving sofas, chairs, and smaller items. Beds, dressers, and heavier pieces are left in place and cleaned around under our regular pricing structure. We can quote the exact cost if you request the moving of heavier pieces.

Any recommendation before the technician arrives?

If the carpet is heavily soiled, we recommend the carpet be pre-vacuumed. Remove any breakable objects, such as ornaments from the area that will be cleaned. If furniture is to be moved, pick up any objects from the floor to be cleaned, such as toys.

How long does the carpet take to dry?

Drying time depends on several factors: the type of fiber and how condensed it is. The carpet will only be damp to the touch. Depending on weather conditions, room temperature, air flow, and overall conditions this time can vary. Drying time can be anywhere from 4 to 12 hours.

What can I do to accelerate the drying time?

Ventilation is crucial to dry your carpet faster. If it is hot outside, then open your windows and turn on your fans—ceiling, furnace, kitchen, and bathroom. If you have central air conditioning, close up the residence and turn air conditioning on. If it is cold or raining outside, then close up the residence and turn on fans and heat.

I have noticed there are furniture stains, dye and ink in my carpet. Will those come out?

Furniture stains, dye and ink are the toughest stains to remove, and may not come out with cleaning. When we perform the cleaning services at your residence, the technician will pre-inspect the carpet . In most cases it is possible to remove them with a special spot removing process for which there is an additional charge. To avoid the furniture stains it is very important that you do not move the carpet tabs that have been placed by the technician until the carpet is completely dry.
